One of my favorite meals, love pizza as in my world pizza is a food group. Add a wine cooler and bread sticks and the meal is complete.
Me and my shadow on this sunny Sunday late afternoon. I just love how the trees cast such long shadows in the snow covered backyard.
Still have some life left in these flowers. So here we go one last time. This time the daisy type flowers are center stage.
A bit of a wintery mix and by mid morning it was pretty crappy roads. I was out early and had a nice surprise when I got home, the neighbor had plowed the driveway with his John Deere mower/plow, making it easy to get to the garage. Then I headed to Fountain Street Church to attend Uncle George's memorial service. It was a very nice service as the pastor, Brian, Jim, David, Dave and Chip did a nice job speaking on Uncle Georges life. A bit said that my parents, Aunt Steph and Uncle George are no longer present in my day to day life other than the memories and the lessons they taught me. I hope I can live up to the lives that they had.
Day three with the flowers. Used a nice empty bottle of the Mikes Hard lemonade and the the remainder in the flowers just behind.
Long day at work, in at 5am and departed work at 4:30 pm. Had two stops on the way home so really glad I purchased this pretty mix of flowers and colors. Giving me a nice option for today's photo of the day!
It is a gloomy, wet, windy Tuesday in February. Very limited photo opportunities in my world. So I stopped and bought myself some flowers to brighten my day and give myself some pretty photo options to make it to the weekend. Hope you enjoy it.
Being Irish I claim I NEED potatoes, that whole potato famine thing and all. This was our side dish tonight, complete with red peppers, yellow peppers and red onion. I inhaled it.
One of my favorite meals, turkey, YUMMMM!
These two boys were so fun and just a little of a challenge to photograph. Mathias is the youngest and learning to get mobile but SUCH a HAPPY boy and Peter is extremely polite, inquisitive and a little camera shy. There mom is a super nice and way cool engineer at Haworth that asked if I would take some photos. So for the moment this is my favorite shot of the day!
Winter is back but just a little taste of it hopefully. More snow on the ground in West Olive with these really big snow flakes coming down.
One of our best ever purchases at Shipshewana, a matching set of large stain glass Iris's that hang in the french doors on the back of the house.
I am chilly tonight so warmed up the bean bag and will snuggle up on the couch with the blue Haworth blankey!!
Thinking I want to watch chick flicks tonight or maybe something fun like Sister Act. My guess is Dave will veto While you were Sleeping as he is not a Sandra Bullock fan!
The pin on compass has been in our house since the late 1980's so we could get around the windy city of Chicago. I still use it at times in the county parks.
Playing a little solitare to relax from work. Got the Badger ferry cards out that Lindsey won at bingo as a middle schooler on a weekend trip to Wisconsin.
Okay I am getting a bit desperate for photo choices in the winter so since I tend to really enjoy flower photos I decided to take a picture of a red tulip stain glass sun catcher that Dave made in the late 1980's or early 1990's. They still grace our windows to deter birds from flying into the french doors but the humming birds try to get nectar out of them.
I love this cut stone that we have had for quite some time. My all time favorite color is blue so all the hues of blue and the touch of the white crystal still amazes me.
Today was the big announcement and celebration of our bonus. An impressive 5.3 % and the announcement of the 401K match. Everyone was invited "up front" for the announcement and cake. So I brought my camera. This is a picture of Dick Haworth and my friends Earl Schaefer and John chatting in the line for cake! Spoke with Matthew Haworth for a few minutes as he made the rounds before the presentation.
We called Lindsey out little bear when she was little. So it seemed appropriate to get a photo with a bunch of hers and one of my bears. The small dark bear I bought on a babysitting trip to the Detroit Zoo when I was about 15. To this day I still have this bear. The print bear was made by one of my work quality techs, Jeff, younger sisters. It is truly strange what details remain in my head!

Well my brown t
My brown thumb has yet to kill this plant but I will be damned if I can get this to bloom. My photo skils are much better than my skill to grow plants and get them to bloom. This is one of our purchases from Horruck's Market in Grand Rapids. They have an awsome greenhouse that you have to walk through to get to the grecery store!
Not sure why but this year I seem to be missing my parents more than any so far. Maybe because of Lindsey getting married and they wont be there. I am so happy that we took family pictures at the cottage for their 50th anniversary, and to this day I chuckle that my mom thought the frames she bought had a blue trim when it was green trim. And my dad with his comb in his hands in this picture, you can't take your parents anywhere, I am so my parents, Lindsey be very concerned! : )
This has been such a strange winter, not that I am complaining. This is Kouw Park and while it looks like a pretty sunset and it is, it was a cold evening. I am so glad that there is so much access to Lake Michigan for the public in our stretch of the world.
Well my Christmas cactus doesn't have a sense of time as it was blooming in November and now in February! I am happy I split it this fall into 4 containers as it was getting crowded in its original container.
Roxie needs a yard container is filling up yet again! This used to be the change Dave would save for Lindsey to have some extra cash. She would have to roll and count it. It has since changed to the Roxie needs a yard fund!
One of my favorite pictures of Lindsey and I taken by my friend Pam Stephenson at her home in Saugatuck Michigan. I recently upgraded this photo to a basic white frame which just adds to the photo!
Dave insisted that no extra stuff to have in the house for his birthday. So part of his present was a new red handkerchief and with a January birthday I thought the snow flake also tied in. Even if Dave is not a fan of snow!
Another snowy day in West Michigan.
Lots of snow yesterday but it is melting quickly. Snow and ice on the back deck, a combination of white and clear.
Had a not so great trip into GR but wanted to go check out the orchid show @ Miejer Gardens. It was a juryed event for the orchid clubs in West Michigan. Then we wandered north to look at some surrond sound speakers.
For January the weather is delightful. Mushrooms are growing on the fallen trees in the woods. Love the textures of the tree bark and the mushrooms.
Out to the yard I go again. Whats left of the back garden, flower skeletons. I read some where that is was good to not cut them until spring so the birds and wildlife can use for food and coverage.
Went for a walk and a young lady was walking a couple of friendly dogs and she was nice enough to let me take a photo of the younger pup!
Need a little parent fix today so I went to the basement and found the slides and the manual view finder. Spent an hour looking at my folks when they were young and some Tyrrell family from the 1960's slides.
Trying to eat healthy for 2012. Red grapes are washed and ready to eat, maybe add them to a salad, or not!
We have actually had a fair amount of sunshine this winter. Wandered out in the backyard for some late afternoon sun casting long shadows from the trees.
One of Christmas ornaments still adorning the kitchen window. Seeings though it is green it might just remain until after St Paddy's day in March!
My new most favorite jammies. Lindsey and Adam got them for me for Christmas. They are pretty heavy fleece and oh so soft and my favorite color, blue!
A lone leaf hangs on this limb weighted down by some heavy snow.
Snow piled high on the railing and the bird feeder. Our local birds did not have any issues finding the feeder, snow or not!
Love this glass bowl that we bought many years ago and it usually filled with fruit and veggies. They look pretty good but they are not to tasty this time.
Only traveled as far as the backyard for a little more mother nature beauty. I like that the picnic table is in the woods for the winter as it gives the photo a little umph!
Sunday morning, what a wicked sky with the ground and trees covered in the soft white snow. What a contradiction that mother nature through this morning.
My friend Wendy asked if I would do engagement photos for her son, Philip and his fiance, Jen. The snow just would not stop. Wendy came too so I could use two cameras and not have to change lenses. What a fun couple of hours at their house and gorgeous back yard, creek included.
Its Friday the thirteenth and winter is back. New lens and it is even capturing the droplets of water on the needles.
Just can't get enough of this lake. This is at the end of Staton St. That little stretch has been a part of my whole life. It still surprises me that I live 5 minutes away from this spot. Note the picnic table on the edge of the dune.
I don't think I will ever tire of sunsets on Lake Michigan. No matter the season this Lake always makes me feel better and clears my mind.
January in Michigan, note that there is NO snow on the pier at Grand Haven. This is our kind of January and we took a walk all the way to the end of the pier. See my hubby in the photo with only a heavy flannel shirt.
Sunny day and my gargoyle's are still hanging in there. Love, love these light weight wrap around sun glasses.
Some great cherry, lime and pinacolada jelly beans from the Schmidke's. They are from a local shop in Indiana that specializes in jelly beans!
