Happy Halloween. The top pair or earrings is what I wore to work and to the dentist today. Candy Corn how can you go wrong. I am not a big scary movie kind of girl but I do have a sweet tooth. It does not appear that there will be any tricker treaters @ 15784 Blair Street but we did turn the porch light and the palm tree on just in case.

October 30,2011

It was a frosty Sunday morning so out exploring the yard to capture some of the frost. Dave is currently chuckling over my shoulder with "ohh frosty cone heads". This is a patch of cone flower remnants and I angled the camera up a bit to have the reddish brown leaves  of my mom's flowering crab tree to have some color.

October 29,2011

Dave and I went to the the wedding walk in Grand Haven to scout some options for Lindsey and Adam and then we headed towards Muskegon. Since we have the State passport to get us into Muskegon State Park. This is one of the three swans hanging out along the north pier.

October 28,2011

On top of Mount Pisgah all covered with leaves!! Dave and I let the storm roll through and then walked the too many stairs to the top. Just a few poofy clouds to the west, but to the east was some very ugly  storm clouds. We also walked the path along the top on the cottages to the north. Going down the stairs was so much easier.

October 27,2011

Pretty yellow mums that grace the front door at our house. They add a nice pop of color to the cedar siding on the house. They are getting a little tired of the cold weather so hopefully they hang on a little longer.

October 26,2011

Crazy day at work and then off to the dentist for some work on my teeth. It is 2nd appointment out of three in a three week period! And, as usual, in my life as the new dentist was working on tooth # 3 he says , humm, I have never run into a metal rod used in a route canal. So can't wait until the root canal on tooth number 19 next Monday! Oh, my picture of the day is the dentist office. Not the normal medical building but a converted home!

October 25,2011

It is getting very close to Halloween and I had not found just the right pumpkin for the front porch. Luckily there was a home made stand right on Port Sheldon almost directly south of our house. So the one that came home with me is top row all the way to the back of the photograph. Now to carve, and maybe even roast the pumpkin seeds!

October 23,2011

It is a Sunday morning, Dave is working and I had stopped and bought a Carmel apple cupcake with a little fall flair. It is kind of a late birthday cake for me. I even made it a little more special with getting out one of my fine china plates out and then the left the really cute pink single serving cake carrier in the picture. And yes it was as good ass it looks!

October 22,2011

Today I decided the birds were flocking the feeder so I would try a bird shot for my Photo per day. First time using the 100-400 with its push/pull zoom option. Boy that lens is heavy. I need to do so arm workouts or put the ring back on it and use the mono pod so I can hold it a bit more steady. This is out in the back woods as I got out a ways from the feeder and the birds got camera shy so I had to go looking for some to photograph in the "back 40".

October 21,2011

Friday night dinner is nachos supreme. Since Dave and I like a different things on top it starts out as chips and cheese with taco meet and backed in the oven. Then to each his own with topping on our own plates. It was wonderful!

October 20,2011

Its Thirsty Thursday or so John, the maintenance guy at works informs us on most Thursdays when he comes down to check the clamp trucks. So today when I got home I opened the fridge and had to choose which Mikes hard lemonaide I wanted to celebrate Thursty Thursday October 20th. The cranberry lemonade was the winner tonight!

October 19,2011

For Wednesday October 19, a good friend had asked me to take team and individual photos for "his" girls basketball team. I have truly enjoyed doing this for Steve over the last 8 to 10 years, along with trying to shoot at least one game. The girls and Steve really appreciate it and I have learned  so much about basketball technique and getting to know the girls over the years.

October 18,2011

Today was once again dark, gloomy and cold but yet the geranium still continues to bloom. So that is my photo of the day today.

October 17,2011

To get Dave to smile you just need to bring up that grand dog of ours, Roxie!!He is sitting where I took a picture of Roxie and him relaxing in the back yard this summer. She is coming to visit in a couple of weeks and Dave had spotted a four pack of dog jerky! Beef, chicken, duck and lamb, oh my that dog is going to snack well when she visits.

October 16,2011

Met the folks in Lowell for lunch and wandered back through Grand Rapids. Took the scenic route through Ada and stopped and walked the Ada covered bridge. So the bridge was my shot for the day.

October 15,2011

Today was such an interesting windy day and I had plans for Miejer Gardens with Mary Kennedy. Went to our Port Sheldon beach @ 8:15am and tried to stay upright and get some pictures of the waves. Then worked on photos for Mel.At 11am  off to GR to pick up Mary and to lunch at Schuler Books for lunch. Then off to the Gardens to meander with Mary and take photos, gaze at the pretty flowers and art. Had a great day.

October 14,2011

Today is a windy Friday so to the back deck to shoot my pretty cosmos that just wont give up to this snap of cold and windy fall day.

October 13,2011

Can you say YUUUMMMMMMMM! Brownies are one of my favorites, especially the corner pieces. Unfortunately the Indian summer weather departed today and its cooler and raining since I got home from work. So then arose the question what to shoot for my photo for today. I thought I could make a pan of brownies, which will make the house warmer and smell chocolaty, provide a photo op and then bring the pan to work and share on Friday. So here it is!

October 12,2011

After a fun filled day at work I had an appointment with Terry Jordan to discuss what to do with an investment that was coming due to role over and look at where our other investments stand. Well Terry and Wendell have a new addition to the family and since Terry spends way to much time at work, Tuppence also spends the day with her at the office. Wendell and I went out back and I got some action shots but boy is that puppy fast. Terry has the touch though as she "sat pretty" for me to take some cute photo's of her. She is a real sweet and friendly little puppy.

October 11,2011

Today I wandered up to see Mrs. Assink and ask if I again could photograph her barn as my photo of the day. Not sure why old barns are so intriguing to photograph seeings though I am a city kid, but they do draw me in. I should have stopped earlier this week or late last week as the leaves have dropped quickly and the color around the barn has diminished greatly but the blue sky and the red leaves of the vines add to the shoot. I also was able some time chatting with Mrs. Assink, makes me miss my parents, but I know she enjoys some one different to talk with and I enjoy our conversations.

October 10,2011

Did not get out of work right on time. Stopped and checking out some items at Micheal's and was not sure what I wanted to shoot. I still have some Cosmos on the deck in pots that just won't call it a season so trying my luck to get some bokeh into this photo along with a cool shot from the underside of the flowering plant.

October 9,2011

We headed out at dawn this morning and down to the end of Holly Dr in West Olive Michigan to capture the sunrise coming up over the trees on Pigeon River. It was a comfortable 52 degree, dew covered grass and a light foggy mist over the river out by the cat tails. Lots of noise coming from the large patch of cat tails and I look at Dave and say "that seems really loud for tree frogs". Well not tree frogs rather they were filled with red winged black bird. I say "it would be real cool to get photo's of them taking off", so Dave picks up some stones and throws them in that direction,  missed the cat tails by quite a bit and did not bother the birds what so ever. Talk about strange, just before the sun came over the tree tops about 100 birds flew out of the cat tails and to the trees that lined the shore. So this is one of the captures from that transfer from the cat tails to the trees along the shore and the river was pretty dead calm so you also have the birds reflections.

October 8,2011

This is the view from the end of Holly Drive gazing across Pigeon River. Playing with a new camera so it is not exactly what I was hoping for with color but it is what it is. It is a wonderful sunny October Saturday and one of those Indian summer days with the temperatures getting up to mid 70's.

Friday, October 7, 2011

Friday is Finally here, what a long work week. Errands to run after work and then wanting to talk with Lindsey on her trip home. So my camera and I wander the neighborhood. The leaves are quickly changing and then dropping fairly quickly. These trees are in what we fondly refer to as DeKorte Park, which is the neighbors yard. Finally some pops of red in the trees to photograph.

October 6,2011

Today was another bizarre and crazy day at work. Wanted to get some walking in and get a photo of the day and it was 82 degrees OUTSIDE at work. So obvious choice, to me anyways, was a walk at the beach and a photo. What an awsome Indian summer day! Who would have thought you would still see butterflies at the beach after the hard frost last Sunday!

October 5,2011

Today was crazy busy at work and we ended up running an errand after work. So my photo for today is the watch I bought with birthday money. I bought this one as it is a new work watch so black is a good color. It is a kind of a rugged band with some bling around the face. The Apothecary Gift shop always has fun and different things so I love going downtown Holland and wandering thru to see whats new.

October 4,2011

Today after work it was a gorgeous afternoon, sunny and warm. Dave and I met  at Stu Visser Park in the Ottawa Beach Rd parking lot to explore the trails there. This little young lady was there to check out the ducks and the water that flows over the rocks with whom I assume was her grandmother. She wasn't to sure about me but she did let me take a few pictures.

October 3,2011

Well today was a walk down the bike path while waiting for Lindsey to call. Mostly blooming weeds and bugs. So that is todays photograph, some weeds and a woolybear catepillar.

October 2,2011

Dave and I went out for breakfast for our 29th anniversary in Grand Rapids and then headed down to Art Prize. What a variety of different art projects that people have submitted. This artist is Kimber Thompson from Marshall Michigan and the piece is titled "America", her tribute to 9-11. And while the center is a couple of children running down a sand dune to what is most likely Lake Michigan on both sides the artist has captured both things and people that define what USA means to her. There was Martin Luther King, Nixon, Bozo the clown, the Mad magazine cover guy, Lucille Ball, the twin towers in smoke, the White House you could stand there for hours looking for all the items as she had them listed on a poster to the side of the entry.

October 1,2011

A mix of exercise and  photography. To Hemlock Crossings we wandered. Dave and I both explored the building a bit and then off to the north trails on the other side of Pigeon River. This one lone red maple leaf a bit a glow from the late afternoon sun. It was pretty chilly and neither of us dressed particularly warm for the weather so we did not stay all that long.

September 30,2011

A breezy last day of September so flower pictures are not an option. So today is a squirrels kind of a
vantage point. This is one of the many trees in the back yard/acreage. So I leaned up against the tree, looked up and dialed the telephoto lens to as wide as I could. I sure wish I had a some better color but you get what you get.

September 29,2011

Another roller coaster weather day in West Michigan. So I had rain on the way in to work and the sun came out along with a pretty strong breeze about 4:30, so I went to our front garden to get some pictures for my photo of the day. But then the breeze went to a wild wind and the clouds were just rolling inland from the big lake. So that is today's photo of the day.
